Paldalmun Gate is the southern gate of Hwaseong Fortress, and its name means "a gate opening to a road that leads to all directions." Among the four gates of Hwaseong Fortress, the northern and southern gates are bigger and more grandiose. The gate has an entrance wide enough to let the king's palanquin pass through and a watchtower over the entrance. Outside of the gate is a crescent-shaped protection wall called ongseong.
Among the ongseong walls found across the country, Paldalmun Gate's ongseong wall stands out in terms of size and form. The hip roof and decorations seen on Paldalmun Gate's watchtower resemble that of fortress watchtowers, and are recognized as representation of late Joseon dynasty's watchtower architecture.

World Heritage Historic Value Suwon Hwaseong Fortress
World Heritage Suwon Hwaseong Fortress (Historical Site No. 3)
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress was built not only as the foundation of King Jeongjo's filial piety, but also as a center of political initiatives with great political aspirations for eradicating partisan politics and realizing strong royalism.
Construction work began in the 18th year of King Jeongjo's reign (1794) and was completed two years later in 1796, and Jeong Yak-yong designed the castle.
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is considered the most unique building in the history of 18th-century fortress architecture, including the invention and utilization of new materials such as heavy machinery, glider, and green furnace, and the construction method that combines East and West construction.
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 in recognition of its defensive function and the value of buildings with different shapes and characteristics, including four gates inside the walls.
It has emerged as an icon of Korean traditional history and culture and is reborn as a world-class tourist attraction, including "Korea's Best Tourist Attractions," "50 Beautiful Places to Visit in Korea" selected by CNN, and "Star of Korean Tourism" that shone on Korean tourism in 2012.
There is a neighborhood named Jidong because it used to be a pond under the fortress road leading to Changryongmun Gate and Nammun Gate.
Artists, local residents, and volunteers are working together to create the nation's largest mural village from 2011 to 2017.
Wall paintings and culture are being planted in every alley.
If you come down from Changryongmun Gate to the inside of Jidong Village, you can find a good walking path with beautiful alleys.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) has a meaning of Dream, Design, and Play. It holds various exhibitions, fashion shows, forums, conferences, and other domestic and international events. The building complex is divided into sections, which are named Allimteo, Beaumteo, Sallimteo, DDP Design Museum, Design Market & Eoullim Plaza, and Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. Designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the building's exterior attracts the attention of many photographers with its delicate curves and bold shapes.

It is in contact with the fortress road and is good to climb Namsan Mountain using the central stairway, and it takes about 30 minutes to get to Namsan Seoul Tower.
Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is commonly referred to as the Northern Palace because its location is furthest north when compared to the neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghuigung (Western Palace). Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful, and remains the largest of all five palaces. The premises were once destroyed by fire during the Imjin War (1592-1598). However, all of the palace buildings were later restored under the leadership of Heungseondaewongun during the reign of King Gojong (1852-1919). Remarkably, the most representative edifices of the Joseon dynasty, Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and the pond around Hyangwonjeong Pavilion have remained relatively intact. The raised dias and stone markers of Geunjeongjeon showcase the representative art style of their time. The National Palace Museum of Korea is located outside of Heungnyemun Gate, and the National Folk Museum is located on the eastern side of Hyangwonjeong Pavillion.
Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses, called hanok, that date back to the Joseon dynasty. The name Bukchon, which literally translates to "northern village," came about as the neighborhood lies north of two significant Seoul landmarks, Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno. Today, many of these hanoks operate as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants and tea houses, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience, learn and immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture. As Bukchon Hanok Village is an actual neighborhood with people's homes, visitors are advised to be respectful at all times while looking around.
